Catching Up

Last week it was made official that Steve Greeley will be the new Associate Head Coach. Greeley, a former Terrier player, will take over for Mike Bavis. Greeley played 77 games at BU from 2000-2004 and was captain of the 2004 squad.

After BU, Greeley was a player scout for the LA Kings of the NHL. Greeley also was coach of a few USA Hockey Related teams in the mid 2000's.

Camping
Several players on next year's roster are currently at NHL development camps and in the coming weeks. Defenseman Matt Grzeclyk is attending Bruins camp in nearby Wilmington. Grzeclyk had this to say about his second time around at the B's camp: "It's all fun when you first get here, but as soon as you step on the ice, everyone's real competitive and it's really great to see... felt much stronger out there battling than last camp" (Bruins Twitter).

Other Terriers at camps include: Garrett Noonan (Nashville), Robbie Baillargeon (Ottawa), Danny O'Regan (San Jose). In addition, former Terriers Matt Nieto and Wade Megan are at San Jose and Florida's camps, respectively.

Taking the L.I.E
Evan Rodrigues, Ben Rosen, and Cason Hohmann are all at the New York Islanders' development camp. According to NewsDay Long Island, all three Terriers were paired together on the same line in the "Blue vs Orange game", a scrimmage between other Isles prospects. “I’m surprised that they stuck us all on the same team. It’s nice because I’m used to playing with them so when I got out onto the ice it was kind of easy because I know how they play," Rodrigues told NewsDay after the scrimmage.

Of course, Ben Rosen won't be on the BU roster next year, as he graduated this spring, but it's nice to see he's still in the game.

Doyle Somerby, who will be on the Terrier blue line this fall, is also at the Isles development camp. Somerby was New York's 4th round, 125 over all pick in the 2012 draft.

In Other News
Former Terrier Captain and Hoby Baker winner, Matt Gilroy signed a one year, two way contract with the Florida Panthers. Last year, Gilroy spent time with both the New York Rangers and their AHL affiliate the Connecticut Whale. Gilroy started his career with the Rangers, before getting traded to Tampa and then Ottawa.
