BU has a number of former players in this year NHL playoffs.

Starting with the Ducks-Predators series. Collin Wilson is not playing for Nashville, but his his fellow line mate from the 2009 National Championship year is for Anaheim. Nick Bonino is getting a regular shift for the Ducks on the third line and last night almost scored his first career playoff goal (video). The Duck's Bobby Ryan scored one of the alltime highlight reel goals last night but it was the Predators who won the game in overtime.

In the Rangers-Capitals series, Matt Gilroy and Chris Drury will look to stave off elimination this afternoon. Gilroy scored the first goal of the series back in game one (video). The Capitals won a thrilling double overtime classic two nights ago in Madison Square Garden. Washington leads the series three games to one.

Mike Grier and the Buffalo Sabres took a 3-2 series lead after defeating the Flyers in overtime last night. Grier has only one point in the five playoff games, an assist on Buffalo's fourth goal in game two.

Adrian Aucoin and the Phoenix Coyotes were swept in four games by the Red Wings. Aucoin had no points and was -4 for the series.

The are no former Terriers in either the Tampa Bay-Pittsburgh series, Boston-Montreal, Chicago-Vancouver and Los Angeles-San Jose*.

* John McCarthy is no longer on the active roster for San Jose. He is in AHL Worcester.

News and Notes

Today while I was doing my daily college hockey rummaging, I stumbled across a post on a Denver Hockey Blog. It stated that the Pioneers would be in Boston for two games next season. On Friday October, 14th  DU would play Boston College and the next night take on the Terriers at Aggains. Denver has only been to Agganis once, BU won 1-0 back in 2005. The last time the two teams met was the Denver Cup Championship game in 2009 at Magnus Arena. BU skated away with a 4-1 win over the Pioneers

It is not official yet, but its something defiantly to look forward to.

UMass has officially put out their schedule for next year, the 2011-2012 version.  BU will be at UMass for the first half a home and home series starting on October 28th at the Mullins Center and wrapping up the next night in Bean Town at the Jack Parker Rink. UMass will also be at Agganis on February 10th.

Bruins Win Northeast Division On Ryder's Goal

Yesterday, the Bruins were able to capture the Northeast Division title with a 3-2 win over theAtlanta Thrashers. Michael Ryder's third period penalty shot goal was the difference for the B's.

Mark Recchi shored on a tap in, in the first period and Daniel Paille picked up a short handed goal at the 6:18 mark of the second.

With this win, the B's have locked up third place or better in the Eastern Conference standings. They can mathematically still win the conference. The are just for points behind the conference leading Washington Capitals.
