Checking is to separate the player from the puck, right? It's not to blow somebody up! We are seeing way too much of it from the NHL on down.
It is time to clean up this beautiful game and reward skill. Hockey needs to do whatever it takes to make this epidemic of disrespectful contact a thing of the past or we will see more young boys and girls (and men and women) getting seriously hurt.
