Tonight, Lowell shutout BU in one of the most boring hockey games I have ever been too. The first period saw no goals, no good chances (exept a Lowell post) and no every in the building. It all made for a pretty sleepy stanza that saw a combined 11 shots make their way on net.
Lowell finally broke through at the 5:35 marker of the second. Scott Wilson rang a slapper from the top of the far circle off the post and by Matt O'Connor for his 9th of the season.
Minutes later, Joe Pendenza made it 2-0 on a really flukey play. Josh Holmstrom threw a pass into a mass of body's in the slot. The puck hit off of Pendenza's leg and into the net. O'Connor never saw it.
Lowell made in 3-0 in the closing minutes of the game. Riley Wetmore beat O'Connor five hole, as he was left all alone in the low slot. If not for O'Connor's play, it could have been 8-0.
The two teams will go at it again tomorrow night in Lowell.
