Terriers Fall to Maine in a Close One

One more goal, thats all the Terriers would have needed in every loss this season (other than the Notre Dame game) to tie the game. Last night was no different. The Terriers fell 3-2 to unranked Maine in Alfond Arena in Orono Maine.

In the first Maine took a 1-0 lead on a 5 on 3 power play goal from Jeff Dimmen. 5 seconds after the play shifted to even strength, Gustav Nyquist chased down the puck behind the Terrier goal and rapped the puck into the net before Millain could slide over to the other side. It took the Black Bears only 1:24 to take a 2-0 lead on the Terriers. Before the end of the first the Terriers would get one back. On the power play Freshman and the team's leading goal scoring Alex Chiasson (photo) took a pass from Cory Trivino and slid it past Maine goalie Scott Darling

In the second Maine Sophomore Spencer Abbott Scored the game winning goal. Abbott scored off a centering pass from Nyquist and then put the puck past Bu goalie Kieran Millan to make the score 3-1 Maine. The score would stay that way till the third when the Terriers would make things interesting. Bu went on the power play and Chris Connolly cut the Maine lead to one with with seven minutes to go. But it proved to be to little to late and the Black Bears of Maine went on to win the game by a score of 3-2.

With the loss the Terriers fall to 2-5-0. Next weekend Bu will split a home in home series with Hockey East bottom feeders the Warriors of Merrimack University.
