BU woman down Uconn, take first ever Hockey East championship

Last the lady Terriers would win their first Hockey East championship after upending Uconn in overtime, 2-1. With the win they also clinch their first ever trip to the NCAA tournament where they will face #1 ranked Mercyhurst in the first round. 

BU got on the board first after they scored on the power play. Jonnie Blomers took a trip around the boards and the through the puck on goal. There I bounced and Jenelle Kohanchuk then picked it up and dished it over to a wide-open Karthryn Miller who would tap to over the goal line.

BU would take the 1-0 lead into the dressing room thank in large part to tournament MVP Melissa Haber who made a great save with less then 10 seconds left in the period.

The Husky's would solve Haber and pull even at the 6:50 mark of the second. Michelle Binning notched her 20th of the season, when see picked up a rebound in front and then picked a corner on Haber.

After a scoreless third, the Terriers would claim the title in overtime. Tara Watchorn barely was able to keep the puck in the zone after she was hut with a pass with some steam on it. Watchorn gathered her self and then let a bomb go that looked to hit a Uconn player in front. The puck found the upper right corner of the net and the BU bench then fell in to celebration.
